| Much has been accomplished since we formed the Vermont Committee in October 2001. Vermont artists, Elizabeth Billings and Patricia Burleson were selected to exhibit their work in two different shows at the museum in Washington, DC. Vermont photographer Tarrah Krajnak and her collaborator were chosen for “Women to Watch” at the museum March 14-June 15, 2008
We co-sponsored exhibitions of Vermont finalists for several national shows at the Fleming Museum in Burlington, the Brattleboro Museum in Brattleboro, The Helen Day Art Center in Stowe, The Chaffee Center for the Visual Arts in Rutland, St Michaels College, Marlboro College and the Big Picture Theater in Waitsfield, Vermont.
We organized an exciting two-day symposium, featuring the book arts, which attracted artists, collectors, students and teachers. We co-sponsored two artists’ conferences with the Helen Day Art Center on the changing business of art.
The Bryan Memorial Gallery in Jeffersonville graciously invited us to co-sponsor their show Masters of Vermont: Five Women Artists.
Building upon this impressive beginning, we are planning more exhibitions of Vermont women artists at major venues in Vermont. We are creating ways to connect women artists to one another and to outside resources, which will enhance their careers. We are passionate advocates for women artists.
